The Ghana Friendship Association of Edmonton joined the Ghanaian community in Ghana and across the world to celebrate the 66th anniversary of Ghana independence.
The event took place on March 11, at the Duggan Community Hall in Edmonton, with cultural dishes, a keynote from Dr. Phil Okeke-Ihejirika, and a taste of the beautiful Ghanaian culture offered by the association to kids, and to anyone who wants to learn about Ghana’s rich culture.
There event also had a presentation of Board Members of the Ghana Friendship Association of Edmonton and ended with a dance.
On 6 March 1957, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah declared the independence of Ghana, the first country in sub-Saharan Africa to achieve its independence from European colonial rule.
