“Last year, he was recognized with an Alberta Immigrant Impact Award… and now, he will do the same through his contributions to the community as Honorary Consul of Côte d’Ivoire in Alberta.”
On October 10, at the Westwind Conference Centre in Calgary, Mr. Kazir Coulibaly was officially installed as the Honorary Consul of Côte d’Ivoire in Alberta. His outstanding contributions to the community were previously recognized with the Alberta Immigrant Impact Award, and now, as Honorary Consul, he continues to serve the province with distinction. This milestone was celebrated in the presence of Minister Muhammad Yaseen, Minister of Immigration and Multiculturalism.
In attendance were esteemed representatives from the Ivorian community, business leaders, investors, and consuls from Finland, China, and other nations. Mr. Coulibaly expressed his gratitude for the support:
“I’m feeling grateful to see all this representation from Finland, China… We will continue to build our diversity and break barriers.”
As he took on his new role, Mr. Coulibaly emphasized his dedication to fostering growth and cooperation in Alberta, stating:
“As Honorary Consul, I’m committed to serving as a catalyst for economic diplomacy and assisting my community—not just as a consul for Calgary, but for all of Alberta.”
H.E. Bafetigue Ouattara, the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire, highlighted one of Mr. Coulibaly’s key missions: to promote Ivorian culture across Alberta while nurturing “win-win” partnerships between investors from Alberta and Côte d’Ivoire. Mr. Coulibaly further underscored this goal, pointing out the unique economic opportunities available:
“Côte d’Ivoire is the world’s largest producer of cocoa and cashews. Let’s work together to forge connections between people and the economy. Diplomacy is about building relationships that facilitate economic development.”
With a clear vision for the future, Mr. Coulibaly aims to build stronger cultural and economic ties, helping to create a prosperous future for both Alberta and Côte d’Ivoire.

Lorsqu’il a pris ses nouvelles fonctions, M. Coulibaly a souligné son engagement à favoriser la croissance et la coopération en Alberta, en déclarant :
“En tant que Consul Honoraire, je m’engage à servir de catalyseur pour la diplomatie économique et à soutenir ma communauté – non seulement en tant que consul pour Calgary, mais pour toute l’Alberta.”
S.E. Bafetigue Ouattara, ambassadeur de la Côte d’Ivoire, a mis en lumière l’une des principales missions de M. Coulibaly : promouvoir la culture ivoirienne à travers l’Alberta tout en favorisant des partenariats “gagnant-gagnant” entre les investisseurs de l’Alberta et ceux de la Côte d’Ivoire. M. Coulibaly a renforcé cet objectif en soulignant les opportunités économiques uniques disponibles :
“La Côte d’Ivoire est le premier producteur mondial de cacao et de noix de cajou. Travaillons ensemble pour établir des liens entre les personnes et l’économie. La diplomatie consiste à créer des relations qui facilitent le développement économique.”
Avec une vision claire de l’avenir, M. Coulibaly vise à renforcer les liens culturels et économiques, contribuant ainsi à créer un avenir prospère pour l’Alberta et la Côte d’Ivoire.
