GMAC Secretary Fires Threat at Diversity Magazine and Our Response

Let me say categorically clear, support for Diversity Magazine or related projects, buying a membership, advertisement, or referrals does not buy our conscience and cannot stop us from telling the TRUTH or reporting what is happening in the community, irrespective of who ever is involved.

To give you a brief insight into my (Frankline Agbor) world since I make ALL the decisions on what to publish and what is not publish in all Diversity Magazine platforms, and I take full responsibility for it. 

If a story is true, in the best interest our community, and I can sleep at night or my conscience will be at rest after its publication, that is, no guilt of any sort, nobody gets killed or hurt, I give the go ahead to my team to publish.

The last thing on my mind when I give the go ahead for a story to go on any Diversity platform is the consequences on Diversity Magazine from those involved, or repercussions on me personally. I never worry about the persons or organizations involved withdrawing their support, or putting me in jail, or trying to hurt or kill me.

I would rather die for something, than to live for nothing. Since I am fortunate to live, in my twenty’s I was seeking a voice or a calling, now in my thirties, I should be using that voice or answering that call and perfecting it. By my forties, I should be cementing a foundation with it and in my fifties, preparing to exit and make way for new voices or people who have been inspired by my call or who heed to the sound of my voice to also lead. 

As someone whose works are put in the public domain, not everyone will be happy with what I write. Anybody who want to harm me can easily do so because my office is public, I go to events that they can predict, and I am always in the community. As such I publish what I think should be publish and stand by my publications and do not need support from anyone who want to buy my conscience. And of course I am not worried about someone getting back at me because I publish what they do not like. When I took this calling, I first built my coffin and my jail, so I may go in at any time. In Canada this is less likely because of freedom of speech, and press freedom. So will keep going, one community story at a time with your support my patrons and members.

Once more, GMAC brings important issues to the table, but their tactics are at best toxic to the Africa Centre that caters for the poorest and vulnerable in our community, and at worst embarrassing to our community and people of African descent!

The letter from Regis Vusango, Chair Zimbabwe Cultural Society of Alberta (ZCUSA) and Secretary of General Membership of the Africa Centre (GMAC)

“Dear Mr Frankline, It is with a sad heart to receive your email. With all the respect we have for you, I think you are a man of integrity and deserves some respect and dignity from all Africans. As a magazine host, a business man and a man who am sure inspires to be recognized in canada, I would advise you to withdraw your threats to other African leaders and to myself as the Leader of the Zimbabwean Community. It was going to be better for you to leave Africa Centre politics to the African Leaders and members of its board. After reading your email, the content in there is very disrespectful, arrogant and immature. When we spoke a couple of weeks ago, I didn’t believe that all I was going to see is an email of this kind especially from someone I thought I owe some respect. It was going to be nice, if you could have phoned me and get my insight as an individual.

I would expect and hope that you withdraw your posted magazine with my name and organization, I feel that this behaviour will not help us moving forward together as Africans at Africa Centre.

With all due respect Sir, please withdraw your post and write an apology letter to me and to all the recipients where you forwarded my name and organization. failure to do so might get us in some kind of unnecessary and unexpected rhetoric in the community and country at large. In order to receive backup and support from the Zimbabwean Community now or in the future in your magazine and programs, please help me by understanding this letter.

I hope with this response, you will take the necessary steps to withdraw your statements. I would want to expect you to be a leader not a fighter, to take Africa Centre to another level not to take it backwards. Thank you very much,” Zcusa Chair Zimbabwe Cultural Society of Alberta (ZCUSA).
