The day was September 22, 2018. A dull wet day in Edmonton but that did not dampen the spirit of the Chinese Benevolent Association of Edmonton to take the Mid-Autumn Festival in doors and showcase some colourful Chinese cultures on stage and through exhibition tables.
Mid-Autumn Festival is a harvest festival to celebrate harvest especially when China was an agricultural country. It is the second largest festival in the Chinese Calendar. It falls on August 15, but in the English calendar, it falls in early September and is celebrated on a weekend. The desert at this festival is called “Mooncake,” which was handed to seniors and children.
Stephen Tsang, one of the organizers had this to share, ” a time to celebrate harvest, family, enjoy nice dinner, a time for family and friends together”.
