On Friday, October 12th, 2018, the Calgary Nepalese Community Association (CNCA) celebrated the Dashain Festival, also referred to as, Vijaya Dashami, a festival which is believed to provide an opportunity for the Nepalese to give blessing and exchange good wishes with their loved ones.

The festival took place between 5 and 11 pm at the Calgary Hellenic Banquet Hall.  The event included performances in the form of cultural dance, songs, and poetry as well as cultural food.  The very next day, Saturday, October 13th, the CNCA also celebrated the inauguration of the Calgary Nepalese Community Centre located at Unit F 7239 Flint Road SE Calgary.

The inauguration was an open-house one meaning that people were able to tour the centre and help themselves to light snacks and refreshments. Some notable guests who were present at the inauguration include, the Associate Minister of Health, Brandy Payne, the Minister of Community and Social Services, Irfan Sabir, MLA Robyn Luff, and Vice President of NRN Canada, Madhav Dulal.
