Diversity Magazine was fortunate to give Edmonton Filipino Fiesta its first interview in 2016 when the journey started. Fast forward to 2019, the festival has doubled in size, a massive credit to the team of organizers; Ariel Pascual, Jeanette Flores Dotimas, Tony Santiago, Mila Bongco, Herald T. Casaña, the passionate volunteers, the supportive sponsors, great vendors, and fantastic Edmonton for the support to this wonderful display of multiculturalism.
At the 4th Annual Filipino Fiesta at Borden Park Edmonton on June 22, and 23, 2019, I had a chat with Jeanette about the success of this year’s event. I also had a chat with Tony about their 2019 Fiesta success. They all humbly attributed the success to the beautiful sunny weather, and the sponsorship from one of Philippines major media network, TFC, that brought in a Filipino musical celebrity, Yeng Constantino, who attracted a lot of the younger demography. Tony also gave me some tickets to try some Filipino food, great treats I got with my team.
