Bad news for job numbers in Alberta: Alberta lost 14,000 jobs especially in the influential oil and gas industry. This job loss took place in the backdrop of the UCP giving $4.5 billion tax cuts to businesses. Monthly jobs numbers released by Statistics Canada showed that 14,000 full-time Alberta jobs were lost in the month of July. The figures also showed the unemployment rate increased by 0.4 per cent to 7 per cent. According to the figures there were significant job losses in the natural resources sector with an estimated 7,200 fewer people working in forestry, fishing, mining, quarrying and oil and gas extraction than in June.
