The Mennonite Centre for Newcomers (EMCN), with the support of the community and businesses, organized a very beautiful and colourful Rise Awards on October 10, 2019, at Edmonton Expo Centre.

Seven awards were handed out at an event rich in culture, and brighten by its diversity and inclusion. A night to celebrate outstanding accomplishments in the community, drawing inspiring words from our Premier and the Mayor. “It’s an honor to be part of such an outstanding event,” Premiere Jason Kenney. “Best event in the city by far,” Mayor Don Iveson. The Mayor will draw this African proverb to finish off his address, “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go slow, go with the community. Congratulations to all the recipients for making an impact in our community!”.
