The reality of the economic and health impacts of the Coronavirus will be understood better as some businesses will not wake up, some jobs will go from temporal layoffs to permanent layoffs. Some people will return to work and others not. Like in many other countries after re-opening, Coronavirus cases go up before it stabilizes. Some people are scared to go out or take their kids to childcare.

Edmonton re-opens for business as Alberta eases restrictions

Lots of Edmontonians celebrate the easing of restriction by going out to appreciate their new found freedom to either shop or do eye shopping.

Some retail stores are still closed. Stores of the popular lifestyle sister brands of Winners, HomeSense, Marshall’s, and Tixstyle are closed across Edmonton. A customer service representative told Diversity Magazine that the earliest they can open is next week but no date is confirmed.

At Londonderry Mall, in the north of Edmonton, Le Chateau is the few stores open. At the entrance of the mall, a security guard welcomes customers with a bottle of hand sanitizer, while an arrow on the floor directs where to go and reminds to maintain social distancing, “This Way Please. Please Stay 6 Feet Apart”.

What are you observing where you are in Edmonton?
