Should you missed Diversity Magazine Flash for June 15th, 2020 please watch and share
Someone who left planet earth just three months ago to another planet and return to earth today will realize a completely different planet, transformed by the Coronavirus pandemic, and most recently, protest on racism calling on police and justice reforms.
Our fantastic city of Edmonton is not exempted from this change. Last week, Edmonton City Council came out with a draft motion on freezing police funding, and writing letters, a focus on scapegoating the police and deflecting from City’s own horrible systemic racism.
A motion as remote from tackling systemic racism as you can get as it has nothing on civilian oversight with minority representation, no mention of having diversity on the police commission that oversees the police, support for under funded groups, no ban on use of certain kinds of force, and no mention of diversity on City’s Boards, committees and senior management to tackle City’s own acute systemic racism.
The question for the day is what do you want to see as Edmontonians share their views through the public hearings beginning today from 9:30 AM?
Have a very good day and stay turned to Diversity Flash for June 15, 2020, and a video summary at the end of the day on Diversity TV on Facebook and YouTube as we sail through another dull and wet day in Edmonton and Calgary.
