Edmonton is in the process of passing a motion in council, now is the turn of Calgary.
After the George Floyd murder, cities across North America have taken actions to tackle systemic racism. In Alberta, Edmonton is in the process of passing a motion in council on police reforms, while ignoring the systemic racism within the city organization; hiring, appointments, contracts, and financial support to projects of vulnerable groups by vulnerable groups. Now is the turn of Calgary.
The City of Calgary’s Public Consultation on Racism runs on July 7 and 8, 2020, from 9:30 AM.
As part of Calgary’s commitment to anti-racism, The City of Calgary is holding a public consultation on systemic racism through a meeting of the Standing Policy Committee on Community and Protective Services.
Due to COVID-19, the Council Chambers will be open to individuals who voluntarily wish to participate in person, subject to COVID 19 restrictions. Remote participation is preferred.
