A tiny step forward for Calgary.

Another micro step forward for tackling systemic racism in Calgary.

After the George Floyd inspired protest, different cities have come up with different actions for tackling systemic racism, from enacting new bylaws to capacity building of organizations through grants.

The City of Calgary is no different even in tough economic times with the fall in oil prices and the economic impacts of the Coronavirus.

On July 24, the City of Calgary launched the Anti-Racism Capacity-Building-Fund to support collaborative community based initiatives that builds the capacity of organizations to facilitate policy and system change that un-do systemic racism.

The City of Calgary is investing 250K, and Calgary Foundation and the United Way brings 350K to make a total of 600K.

This fund encourages collaboration between groups working on tackling racism. The Calgary Innovation Lab will use its platform to connect groups and crowd source. More information on the lab coming soon and will update you.
