Actions for healthy communities hosts a variety of programs. It is a place where people can expand their horizons and reach higher heights.
One of these programs is EBG, empowering black girls. We talk with Ingabe Gashayija one of the project heads. Ingabe tells us about how the program is impacting the community through the collaborations with different leaders within the community mentoring youth.
The project targets young black girls between the ages of 16 and 24 and is open for volunteering plus participation as a youth facilitator aims to support and empower young black girls so they can be leaders within their communities.
Ingabe had this to say in one of her closing statements: “What I would like the public to know is that Black girls are smart, strong and beautiful”.
In another statement, she mentions how Blacks girls need a space they can call their own stating, “It is important to have a safe place like EBG where they can be reminded of their potential, encourage, and celebrate each other and they can use their voice and join hands to make the world a better place”.
