4. I’ve been laughing all the way from Calgary to Edmonton…

He called, “are you OK,” but nobody responded. He took off leaving behind his car in the parking lot of the funeral home…”

Hanging out with Andrea Cox, helping our community members properly plan in advance the final moments of their lives through her program, Getting Your Affairs in Order, and Stuch Joseph of Island Beat Beauty in Calgary. That fun moment with these two has left me with tired lungs as I just can’t stop laughing about this story of this guy, scared of ghosts, but took a job anyways to fit carpet in a funeral home with two friends. Since he’s too scared of spirits like most Africans are, now I learnt that Caribbeans are too…

All jokes aside, even though this is the funny part about death and dying, the hard reality is that this is something that will happen to 1 out of 1 of us and because of traditions and fear, most of us choose to ignore it and not talk about it. Attending the Getting Your Affairs In Order Webinar over two years ago and hearing the importance of putting something in place including a Will, knowing my final wishes and other insurance to protect my children if something happens to me is a hard truth that I had to come to grounds with. Being the voice of the community and seeing first hand the mess left behind when a loved one passes away is really something a lot of us need to take the time to think about, put something in place resulting in peace of mind now and in the future.

A plan today will protect our family in the future. For more information on attending a FREE Getting Your Affairs In Order Webinar, call Andrea on (403) 607-9298 or go to https://myeventsite.ca/gyaio/?fbclid=IwAR1ac45V7srtGqW_IP4x3bnbsL5Bv4Z4HxCSJXef_W2Kg74QMbQa7uzfMOE
