Zimbabwe made shoes, food, clothes, political tolerance between Alberta’s ruling UCP and NDP official opposition, good music, and many more spiced up the special Zimbabwe community event in Edmonton.
On April 16, 2022, the Zimbabwe Cultural Association of Alberta (ZCUSA) celebrated the 42nd anniversary of Zimbabwe independence in style.
Exciting live music, a special Mbira treat, mouth-watering cultural dishes, inspiring speeches, networking, made in Zimbabwe exhibition, and a rare moment of questions and answers with Edmonton Black politicians present; MLAs Madu and Shepherd, drawing their own racism experiences, comment on loans to Black businesses by FACE Coalition, and how to get Black managers stuck in junior and middle management break the glass ceiling into senior management positions in the public and private sector.
The very rich and high quality event was also flavoured with a presentation from Margaret Adekunle, CEO of City Lending Centres, the first Black owned credit card company in Alberta.
The President of ZCUSA, Siba Khumalo, told Diversity Magazine/TV that her entire team and community were thankful for the support shown by everyone to their 42nd independence celebration.
