Some were just weeks in Canada, others months, but determined to volunteer and deliver food to the needy.

The elderly, the young, some were men, women, and youths from different parts of the world, united by the determination to volunteer and help others.

They all took part in this volunteer summer-like outdoor celebration, with fancy chairs, decorated with beautiful African fabric, spiced up with readymade hot meals channeled directly from CANAVUA’s food truck parked by the side of the event.

Last week, was the National Volunteer Week 2022, April 24-30, in Canada, and one of Edmonton’s biggest volunteer organization, CANAVUA, made a point to celebrate volunteering.

The theme for this year’s volunteer week celebration is, “Volunteering is Empathy in Action”.

The Canadians Volunteer United in Action (CANAVUA) presented certificates of appreciation to 100 volunteers for their work in building community.

CANAVUA usually provides fresh fruits and veggies every Friday, from 2 PM at their office at La Cite Francophone in Edmonton, but Friday, April 29, they provided hot meals instead, as part of their National Volunteer Week celebration.

The founder and Executive Director of CANAVUA, Dicky Dikamba thanked the volunteers for helping to build community, as him and his team dished out certificates to those present.

The celebration also had some injection of fun music, and inspiring speeches.

This Friday, May 6, CANAVUA is back to providing fresh fruits and veggies. Should you want to pickup a FREE bag, or have a big heart to volunteer, please go to www.canavua.org
