November 29 was the day that the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal was pinned on 16 community powehouses in Edmonton, nominated and celebrated by MLA David Shepherd for their contributions to making our communities better.
They were drawn from minority communities, not often given such recognition.
MLA Shepherd said, they were carefully selected over his time as MLA, meeting lots of community leaders.
The event took place at the Federal Building in Edmonton, now called Queen Elizabeth II Building and was spiced up with food and the supportive company of family and friends.
A big congratulations to all the recipients and to you all making a difference in our communities!
