EPS New Recruit is a Diverse Bunch from 9 Countries, Collectively Speak Over 14 Languages.
From a happy mom of a new police officer:

And from the officer himself to those who want to join the Edmonton Police Service (EPS):

Constable Ronald Nyikabe was one of the 27 EPS officers of Recruit Class #155, who graduated on February 10, at Edmonton City Hall, in an exciting event, cheered and supported by family and friends.
Constable Ronald Nyikabe was born in the Congo, grew up in Edmonton, and became a carpenter with his own company. He volunteered at north Edmonton schools and youth events to be a role model for marginalized kids. As a dad himself, Ronald was inspired to “be the change you want to see in the world” and chose to be a police officer.
From the Vice Chair of the Edmonton Police Commission, Aneela Hussainaly, “…..we expect you to be a partner of the community and the community to respect you as a member of the community seeking the greater good of the community……remember we’re all in this together…..,”
Constable Ryan McGillivray was voted the Valedictorian of Recruit Class #155, a class with most members having post-secondary education, originating from a wide variety of background, nine countries outside of Canada, including but not limited to; Kenya, Congo, China, India, the Philippines, and speak 14 languages other than English.

Constable Gordon McRorie: Gordon was born and raised in China, went to university in Scotland, and moved to Canada where he played with the Canadian National Rugby Team in the Rugby World Cup. The strong fitness component of policing peaked his interest in making a career change to a new team.
Constable Mia Simon won the Humanitarian Award of the class. Mia was born in the Philippines and grew up in Edmonton. She always wanted to serve her community as a police officer, and graduated NAIT with an Emergency Management degree and Emergency Medical Responder diploma. She worked security for the Oilers Entertainment Group as a stepping stone to the EPS.
Constable Ian Muriuki with a Kenyan heritage joined the EPS to make a difference in his son’s life. His wife’s message to him through Diversity Magazine is, “…..we’re very proud of you…..EPS, you have the best….!”
