Edmonton Centre Federal Candidate Forum Gives Voters a Glimpse of What’s at Stake…
 
With the federal election just around the corner on Monday, April 28, the buzz around local ridings is picking up. On Wednesday, April 16, at the Matrix Hotel, the spotlight turned on Edmonton Centre as seven federal candidates came together for a moderated panel discussion.
 
The forum which had about 250 attendees presented an opportunity for the public to hear directly from those hoping to represent them in Ottawa.
 
For Eleonore Olszewski, the Liberal party is offering real tangible solutions that will work for all. “…the Liberals are building the future where every Edmontonian has the tools to thrive….”
 
Naomi Rankin of the Communist party of Canada spoke strongly about America’s control over Canada’s economy, “This is the time to break the chains, we do not have to be a Country whose economy is so totally tied to just one partner, an unfair partner” she said.
 
The New Democratic Party’s Trisha Estabrooks believes she has all it takes. In her words, “I am a fighter, I fought for public education and I know what it’s like to face tough competition”.
 
Merryn Edward of the Marxist-Leninist Party of Canada had this to say; “ we don’t have to accept the agenda of the cartel parties, we can make a different choice”.
 
According to Gregory Bell, Revolution Party of Canada candidate, “….we are interested in taxing the billionaires and making them pay their fair share of running this country while making sure that everyone has access to clean water, affordable food, shelter, and a liveable environment”.
 
David Bohonos of Christain Heritage Party had this to say, “ I am passionate to see Canadians live life fully under the supremacy of God and the rule of law”
 
Ronald Billingsley the only Independent Candidate in the race for Edmonton Centre says; “….I am an advocate for the people…”
 
As election day approaches, the voices of these candidates offer voters a clearer picture of the choices ahead.

Forum des candidat·e·s fédéraux d’Edmonton-Centre : un aperçu des enjeux électoraux

À l’approche des élections fédérales prévues pour le lundi 28 avril, l’effervescence monte dans les circonscriptions locales. Le mercredi 16 avril, au Matrix Hotel, les projecteurs étaient braqués sur Edmonton-Centre, où sept candidat·e·s fédéraux ont pris part à un débat modéré.

Le forum, qui a rassemblé environ 250 participant·e·s, a permis au public d’entendre directement les personnes souhaitant les représenter à Ottawa.

Pour Éléonore Olszewski, du Parti libéral, son parti propose des solutions concrètes et efficaces pour tou·te·s :

« Les libéraux bâtissent un avenir dans lequel chaque Edmontonien·ne aura les outils nécessaires pour réussir. »

Naomi Rankin, du Parti communiste du Canada, a dénoncé l’emprise de l’économie américaine sur le Canada :

« Il est temps de briser les chaînes. Nous n’avons pas à être un pays dont l’économie est entièrement liée à un seul partenaire, un partenaire injuste. »

Pour Trisha Estabrooks, du Nouveau Parti démocratique (NPD) :

« Je suis une battante. J’ai défendu l’éducation publique, et je sais ce que c’est que d’affronter une compétition féroce. »

Merryn Edward, du Parti marxiste-léniniste du Canada, a déclaré :

« Nous n’avons pas à accepter l’agenda des partis cartel. Nous pouvons faire un choix différent. »

Gregory Bell, du Parti révolutionnaire du Canada, a expliqué :

« Nous voulons taxer les milliardaires équitablement pour qu’ils contribuent au fonctionnement du pays, tout en garantissant à chacun·e l’accès à de l’eau potable, de la nourriture abordable, un logement et un environnement viable. »

David Bohonos, du Parti Héritage Chrétien, a affirmé :

« Je suis passionné par l’idée de voir les Canadiens vivre pleinement sous la souveraineté de Dieu et dans le respect de l’État de droit. »

Enfin, Ronald Billingsley, seul candidat indépendant dans la course à Edmonton-Centre, a déclaré :

« Je suis un défenseur du peuple. »

À l’approche du scrutin, les prises de parole de ces candidat·e·s offrent aux électeur·rice·s un aperçu plus clair des choix qui s’offrent à eux.
