Often when people can’t get the grapes, they convince themselves that the grapes are sour… Well, the visionaries behind West Edmonton Mall did the opposite… Edmonton is not blessed with a natural beach, so they didn’t complain about it but confronted the landlocked nature of Edmonton by doing something about it. They created innovative designs for everything that they will like to have in Edmonton – a state of the art super centre for shopping and entertainment. They built an amazing indoor beach experience called World Waterpark, coupled with other attractions such as a facility for marine life in a city with no ocean, an indoor multipurpose Ice Palace that metamorphoses from an ice hockey ring breeding young talents, to hosting sporting activities, and event centre. Galaxyland rides brings the carnival experience to the mall, with other attractions complimenting its world class entertainment status, such as, bowling, golf, water rides around the captivating partially submerged boat, making for a sea-like experience. Spiced up with classy hotels, a top class restaurant lane, inviting bars, two separate food courts infused with diverse cuisine, numerous snack shops, and various shops, ranging from luxury, to affordable. These attractions have propelled West Edmonton Mall to one of the few supermalls in the world, attracting millions of people to visit right here in Edmonton, Alberta. West Edmonton Mall is indeed a world class paradise of shopping and entertainment, a great touristic magnet in Edmonton prompting one of the council candidates running for the next City Council in the area, Joseph Mugodo, to say if the touristic riches of Edmonton is properly promoted and connected to their full potential, as the mall dreams of the under construction train line running in a few years, these touristic sites will generate enough revenue to offset the constant rise in property taxes in Edmonton. Edmonton n’est pas dotée d’une plage naturelle, mais au lieu de s’en plaindre, ils ont affronté la réalité de cette ville enclavée en agissant concrètement.
Ils ont imaginé des concepts innovants pour tout ce qu’ils aimeraient avoir à Edmonton — un super centre à la fine pointe pour le magasinage et le divertissement.
Ils ont construit une incroyable plage intérieure, le World Waterpark, complétée par d’autres attractions comme un espace pour la vie marine dans une ville sans océan, un Ice Palace polyvalent qui se transforme d’une patinoire de hockey sur glace formant de jeunes talents à un centre sportif et événementiel. Les manèges de Galaxyland amènent l’ambiance de carnaval au centre commercial, avec d’autres attractions qui consolident son statut de destination de divertissement de classe mondiale, telles que le bowling, le golf, des balades aquatiques autour d’un bateau partiellement submergé offrant une expérience semblable à la mer.
Le tout est agrémenté d’hôtels haut de gamme, d’une allée de restaurants de première classe, de bars accueillants, de deux aires de restauration proposant une cuisine diversifiée, de nombreux kiosques de collations, et de boutiques allant du luxe à l’abordable. Le West Edmonton Mall est véritablement un paradis de magasinage et de divertissement de classe mondiale, un puissant aimant touristique à Edmonton.
