Named after its founder in 1911, the Town of Drumheller has evolved from a rich mining centre to a touristic paradise, invoking into global acknowledgement, the extinct beast to which most major places in the town bear their names – the dinosaur.
Overlooking the valley town of Drumheller is a range of conspicuous white clayed-hills. The dinosaur town is located northeast of Calgary, in Alberta, Canada, known for the Royal Tyrrell Museum with a large collection of dinosaur fossils. Towering above its about 8K inhabitants, in the centre of the town, is the “World’s Largest Dinosaur,” a giant model T-Rex.
The only ferry in Alberta connects one end of the town to another across the Red Deer River that crisscrosses the town.
Welcome to the dinosaur capital of the world right here in Alberta, Canada.
