Amhara is known for its rich cultural heritage, its music, dance, and the food.
On September 7, 2024, at the Evansdale Community League hall in Edmonton, Mayor Amarjeet Sohi declared September 7 to 14, as Amhara Cultural Heritage Week, celebrating the traditions, culture, and preservation of the Amhara language in Edmonton.
The Amharas speak Amharic, and are indigenous to Ethiopia, traditionally inhabiting parts of the northwest Highlands of Ethiopia, particularly inhabiting the Amhara Region.
The event had an exciting drama depicting the rich Amhara royal history, entertaining dance performances, the delicious Injera dish, inspiring speeches, and the highlight of the day, the proclamation by the mayor.

Les Amharas parlent l’amharique et sont originaires d’Éthiopie, habitant traditionnellement des parties des hauts plateaux du nord-ouest de l’Éthiopie, en particulier la région Amhara.
L’événement a proposé une pièce de théâtre passionnante illustrant la riche histoire royale des Amharas, des performances de danse divertissantes, le délicieux plat d’injera, des discours inspirants et le moment fort de la journée : la proclamation officielle par le maire.
