On August 15, India celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
The Alberta Government proclaimed August as Indian Heritage Month, inspiring the first Hindu Heritage Festival on August 14, 2022, in Edmonton.

The event brought communities together to celebrate art, heritage, and culture in the form of Indian classical cultural dances, exhibition on the Hindu culture, and heritage, free Food, an opportunity to educate the future generations about Hinduism and the important role it has played and continue to play in communities across Edmonton.
Three Hindu temples of Edmonton jointly organized this first Hindu Heritage Month Festival on Sunday, August 14th, 2022:

1. Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta Mandir, Edmonton,
2. Hindu Society of Alberta Mandir, Edmonton, and
3. Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir, Edmonton.

The festivities took place at Bhartiya Cultural Society of Alberta Hindu Temple’s premises. This event will be on the 2nd Sunday of August of every year and in the year 2023, it will be at the Hindu Society of Alberta Mandir, Edmonton and in the year 2024 at the Shirdi Sai Baba Mandir, Edmonton.
