On December 8, 2018, Calgary Vietnamese Women’s Association (CAVWA) launched CAVWA’s Vietnamese Arts, Culture and Tradition Club, joined together with their Christmas party, the event took place at the Penbrooke Meadows Community Association, South East of Calgary.

The club’s missions are to preserve and promote Vietnamese traditions, arts and culture, and to encourage Vietnamese traditional and cultural activities in Calgary. It is a step forward to advance CAVWA’s vision of Vietnamese Canadian women having a voice in society by showcasing their artistic talents, creativity, and cultural contribution to the greater Calgary community.

The women had letters of support from prominent Albertan politicians, as well as, community support from Korea, Thailand, Singapore, Brunei, Malaysia and many others including the Vietnamese delegation.

Sandy Chhoa brought this dream turned into reality and Zoong Nguyen with the visual arts program, shared paintings of Vietnamese women. Linh Ha made the delicious food.

“Thank you all volunteers. It’s impossible to describe all the gratitude to everyone. Thank you, thank you!!!,” Sandy Chhoa, on behalf of the Board of CAVWA.
