Bengali Cultural Society of Edmonton (Krishti) celebrated “Kali-Puja” on October 26 at Bonnie Doon Community Hall.
An event rich in culture and religion started with some religion, then moved to a delicious dinner, and some fantastic performances. The organizers say, “A bunch of positive energy from Bangla loving people from Edmonton, Red Deer, Fort McMurray and also from Calgary has resulted in something very unique”.
Kali-Puja is a festival originating from the Indian subcontinent, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali, celebrated on the new moon day of the Hindu month Kartik. While “Kali-Puja” worships the goddess Kali, on this day, the rest of India worships goddess Lakshmi on Diwali.
