Today is the International Day of Peace.

2022 United Nations International Day of Peace celebration in Edmonton was organized by the Edmonton Interfaith Centre for Education and Action, on September 21, at the Government House.

“…..even the smoke send our prayer to the creator…,” Elder Elsie Paul shared some wisdom during her opening prayer.
2022 International Day of Peace Theme is: End racism. Build peace.

Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The UN General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, through observing 24 hours of non-violence and cease-fire.


“….we need to raise our voices and speak out…we have the right to peace….do not underestimate your own power….we have to put the Ukrainian war behind us and build a future that there will be no more wars…..,” Honourable Douglas Roche, OC shared in the keynote.
The Raging Grannies sang a song on “Spirit of the Wind”.
“I Only Ask of God” was the beautiful rendition by Paula Kirman.
The gathering called for peace in the world, end of the Ukrainian war, nuclear disarmament, and for everyone to speak out against war, without underestimating their power.

“Circle Round for Peace. Circle Round for Freedom…..,” were some of the words from the Raging Grannies to conclude the annual event for 2022.
