“BLACK Lives Matter is a leftist lie funded by JEWISH billionaire for his own evil agenda,”
This is one of many racist comments of lawyer Leighton Grey, appointed by Premier Jason Kenney’s Justice Minister, Doug Schweitzer on the Provincial Court Nominating Committee which selects judges for the provincial court.
We’ve all watched with horror, the video of how George Floyd was squeezed out of precious live and how the public erupted from a long history of systemic racism. We’ve also seen how others have fought back against BLACK Lives Matter protests, destroying their signs, running them over with cars, and even shooting them to death, using the argument that, “BLACK Lives Matter is a leftist lie funded by JEWISH billionaire for his own evil agenda”.
This is the kind of people selected to pick judges in Alberta and we wonder why the jails are full of minorities. Premier Jason Kenney, his Justice Minister Doug Schweitzer, and Minister Kaycee Madu responding to questions in the Alberta Legislature did not see the need to criticize these kinds of views. Minister Schweitzer embraces these views as “diversity of views,” in other words, views that are different and welcomed.
When dangerous views are not condemned but embraced by our political leaders, it gives the impression that it’s good to keep sharing, and encourages others to share the same views and go further to act on them as BLACK Lives Matter protesters know too well.
We know for a fact that the vast majority of Albertans do not hold or share these views, but the question of the day is, should minorities be worried about political leaders who shine light on views that could perpetuate racism and discrimination?
