Good morning.
Tomorrow, Friday June 12, Alberta will begin stage two of its re-launch, a week earlier.
This comes at a time when so many people have not been called back to work because the economy is still weak, sales are low, and companies cannot afford to bring back staff because they are not sure how long this will last, despite the federal government wage subsidies.
With the Coronavirus cases still worrisome with a risk of it rising again, some businesses like Starbucks are laying off people, closing stores, and changing strategy. Locally, school boards, colleges, and universities are laying off staff to cope with the Alberta Government cuts. Municipalities and businesses too are also laying off staff to address the fall in revenue as a result of the COVID-19.
Some theatres and some businesses who should open in stage two of the re-launch will delay their re-opening due to Coronavirus safety concerns, thereby not calling back staff.
The big question for you today is: How’re you coping with this stage two re-launch? Please tell us, have you been called back to work? What of childcare arrangements?
Have a very good day and stay turned to Diversity Flash for June 11, 2020, and a video summary at the end of the day on Diversity TV on Facebook and YouTube as we sail through another bright sunny day in Edmonton and Calgary.
