On January 12, 2019, at the Baturyn Community Hall in Edmonton, Dr. Abu Conteh takes over the presidency of the Sierra Leone Association of Alberta, Canada, supported by a passionate Board of Directors and a full house of community supporters to cheer him up.
A journey that started on October 28, 2018, with a very competitive election, finally saw Dr. Conteh sworn in. A man with a keen sense of word choice, occasionally substituting the words read by the swearing in official with his own, in order to strengthen the words and give more meaning to its original intentions, drawing applause from his passionate supporters. A charismatic speaker with an extensive 14 plan of action including but not limited to a community hall and an office space. The latter is already achieved, while a committee erected to work on the former and the others that make up the 14 points on his action plan.
Dr. Conteh takes over from the popular and respected Kemoh Mansaray, big shoes to fill you will quickly guess. The event was spiced up with colourful cultural outfits, delicious dishes, and concluded with a party.
