Health is about balance!

Dr. Laurel Stuart is a Calgary based Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a certified yoga therapist and a registered massage therapist. She has dedicated her life to enabling others to better health using time-tested eastern healthcare disciplines.

Laurel’s love of alternative medicine stems from her almost lifelong quest for better health. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a child, she understood the importance of maintaining good health from an early age. In her late teens Laurel started to explore yoga as a tool for maintaining longevity. Falling in love with the practice, she became a certified instructor in 2004.

“Western medicine keeps me alive, but eastern holistic practices greatly improve the quality of my health”.

She opened the first yoga studio in the Caribbean to conduct Forrest Yoga classes and uses yoga therapy in her work today to enable patient-centered health care. Laurel’s passion for yoga ignited in her an interest in studying Traditional Chinese Medicine and Therapeutic Massage. She moved to Canada in 2010 to study these modalities.

Today she holds active membership with the College and Association of Acupuncturists of Alberta, the National Health Practitioners of Canada, and the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

As Western medicine is divided into different branches, so too is Traditional Chinese Medicine. Dr. Laurel specializes in stress management and musculoskeletal dysfunction. She enjoys combining herbology, acupuncture, massage, and yoga to help her clients obtain and maintain optimum health. Her work as an educator, first in the classrooms of Barbados and now within different capacities in Canada helps her empower her clients to take charge of their health.

“Health is about balance”.

When the body is in balance disease can not exist within. Balance in the body is created through the delicate maintenance of mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.

Dr. Stuart strives to maintain this balance in herself through meditations, community service, continuously seeking to improve her work, connecting with friends, family, and nature, arts, crafts, and dance.
