The Valedictorian selected by the graduating class for this May 13, first in two years post-COVID-19 graduating class was Anthony Churchill. He shared some words of wisdom with his classmates,”…. always have the courage to do what is right….have empathy…..protect the marginalized….”
Dale McFee, Chief Constable for EPS, thanks to the recruit class and their supporting families, as well as, the EPS trainers, flavoured with some words of caution, “….graduation is an important milestone in the career of a police officer….power comes with great responsibility….”
The new EPS recruits of RTC 153 have a heritage as far as Tunisia, the Philippines, China, India, Belgium, Mexico, Romania, Zimbabwe, and the Netherlands, not leaving out Canada, and are fluent in 16 languages other than English.
“I want to commend our EPS Recruiting and Training Sections for their extraordinary efforts to continue staffing our frontlines through the pandemic,” says Police Chief Dale McFee. “Their innovation has helped us safely bring through six recruit classes when many other agencies put their programs on hold”.
Once again, the EPS training conveyor belt has conveyed into the community, 30 EPS constables, 27 males, three females, as well as, one Lakeshore Regional Police Service constable (male) who trained with EPS.
In addition, there were five canine teams graduating that recently completed their Dog Master Training Class, with four EPS police service dogs (PSD Bagheera, PSD Duco, PSD Fesi, PSD Lex) and one (PSD Zoe) from the Camrose Police Service.
