Bigue posed for a photo at the concert of Senegalese artist, Abdul G, in Edmonton, two weeks ago.
Bigue Ndao, 33 years old beauty was killed because of her good heart by her suspected husband, separated for years now. He sent her flowers in the morning, and by afternoon, he is suspected to have stabbed her to death. This is no horror movie, this happened in Edmonton on May 7, 2018.
Bigue Ndao and Amadou Bamba Mbaye were happily married and lived in Senegal before moving to Quebec, community members and friends said. The Senegalese community in Quebec managed to patch her brutal relationship with him before moving with him to Fort McMurray. Her friend told Diversity Magazine that her brutal husband forced her and the entire family to move back to Quebec, and then to Senegal. In 2016, while in Senegal, her husband confiscated their Canadian documents and returned to Canada, abandoning the mother and two girls in Senegal.
In December 2016, Bigue managed to return to Canada, precisely in Edmonton, with her two girls, where they lived together ever since. They lived in West Edmonton until July 2017, when they were forced to move by fire. They spent weeks in a hotel until finally found a place where they could call home, unfortunately, the place of her last breath. A fellow Senegalese friend, who became one of her best friends, even spent time together last Saturday, helped her find an apartment in the Bonnie Doon Neighbourhood of Edmonton for her to start re-building her shattered life with her two girls.
Her friend said, “…she had nothing in her apartment, just the carpet on the floor which became her bed together with her two daughters. They slept on the floor for some time. Afterwards, she got everything, and started learning English at Metro Continuing Education. At Metro, she was admired by other students when a bouquet of flowers arrived from a supposedly transformed husband. When they heard that the same man who sent her flowers in the morning, has stabbed her to death, on the phone I could hear the students crying”.
Bigue was full of life, getting prettier by the day, putting her life back on track, and was spotted dancing and sharing photos at the concert of the Senegalese artist, Abdul G, performed in Edmonton two weeks ago. After her mum’s death, her younger daughter said, “I can’t eat because mum is not here”
Since 2016, she lived with her two girls, seven and 10 years old, until her separated husband was spotted, busy with his phone, at her daughter’s school event. He pretended to love her, manipulating her with love until she started warming up towards him. On the morning of Monday, May 7, 2018, she was viewed with envy by her classmates at Metro, when she received flowers from him. This public display of affection will end abruptly. Sadly, by 4 PM, on the same day, she was pronounced dead by the Medical Officer with the cause of death to be stab wounds.
Edmonton Police Service (EPS) said, “Southeast Division patrol officers initially responded to a 911 disturbance call at a suite near 96 Avenue and 87 Street, at approximately 4 p.m, Monday, May 7, 2018. Upon arrival, EPS members discovered a deceased female in the suite. Police have since charged a 41-year-old male suspect with second-degree murder and possession of a dangerous weapon in connection to the domestic violence incident”.
What could have caused this deadly act is unknown to the community and friends, but some could only speculate that he wanted her back but she did not want him anymore and he took it to extreme.
A letter from the community to join a Go Fund Me campaign reads:
“Dear compatriots and friends,
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bigue Ndao. Bigue Ndao was murdered at her domicile in Edmonton on Monday May 7th 2018.
At age 33, she leaves her two daughters (7 and 10 years old), her family, her friends and her colleagues to mourn her.
Knowing how difficult it is for her two beautiful daughters to grow up without their mother, we are asking everyone to come together to donate generously for the purpose of generating enough funds ($50,000) to cover the cost of sending her body to her homeland and to cover expenses for raising her two daughters.
Thank you in advance and thank you for your prayers”.
Shelley Mahajan, “On Monday, May 7th the world became a shade darker. Bigue Ndao, a student of mine was brutally murdered. Words cannot express the emptiness so many are feeling. She leaves behind two beautiful children. Please pray for her to be in peace. This one hits too close to home. There has been a go fund me page set up under her name – Bigue Ndao…if possible, please support”.
Below is a memorial at Metro made by her classmates and staff
I am so sorry for your loss.
I can’t imagine what you and your students are going through
My heart and prayers are with you”.
