The needy and the vulnerable had their prayers answered during this difficult period of Coronavirus.

The Novel Coronavirus National Trust Fund in Ghana received $20,000 from the Ghana Friendship Association in Edmonton (GFAE) on May 4, 2020.

The fund was received by Dr. Kwame Boadu, Ghana Honorary Consul of Edmonton and Northern Alberta, Canada. The GFAE President, Keli Tamaklo told Diversity Magazine, “This is a critical period in our history and our leadership would be measured by what we did”.

Following the footsteps of his great grandfather in-law, Chief Linchwe, who supported communities in Botswana and South Africa during the 1918 pandemic, Keli added, “Our donation to Ghana is to assist the struggling and vulnerable people of Ghana in their fight against this pandemic. The fund will assist in the areas of research, testing, food security, and the provision of PPEs including mask”.

The GFAE has a rich history of investing their Casino earnings to support community projects in Edmonton way before the Coronavirus pandemic:

Africa Centre – $40,000, 2017
Somali Camp – $20,000, 2018
Sinkunia Camp – $15,000, 2019
