“I’m just about to take the kids to soccer,” those were the words of Tracy Barry the following day after her fantastic event, GROW Women Leaders Summit, themed: Rising Women Rising Leaders. The event took place on November 23, 2018, at Fantasyland Hotel, Edmonton. After such a hectic event you will expect a day off to recoup, but not when you are a mum of five, a 24/7 job. Tracy Barry is the founder of GROW – Gradual Rising of Women.
From the beginning of time, men go hunting, and women take care of the home. Later on, men go to work, and women bear children. This societal formations has painted some psychological barriers in the minds of some women to always sit back and not realize their dreams. Spend a day babysitting a five years old active boy, and at the end of the day you will wonder if you wrestled with a bear. A wrestle some women have every day in some cases with more than one child but some how still finds a way to pursue their dreams. Some women like Tracy have five kids, but miraculously still finds time to be a mum, a full time student, and run a successful organization, empowering other women.
This paints a picture of the challenges that women face in realizing their dreams. GROW has been working to empower women to overcome these challenges and live their dreams. On November 23, 2018, at Fantasyland Hotel, they organized GROW Women Leaders Summit: Rising Women Rising Leaders, to inspire women to take action in becoming innovative in technology, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Women learnt strategies to excel in every areas of leadership, be it personal or business. It was animated with speeches and panel discussions with women leaders.
