It was a day rich in colour and culture!
On January 14, the Londonderry Mall in Edmonton hosted another New Year celebration called Malanka in the Mall, organized by Zorianka Ukrainian Dancers.

Malanka is a Ukrainian and Belarusian folk holiday celebrated on 13 January. It’s New Year’s Eve in accordance with the Julian calendar (Old New Year).

During this celebration, food is given a very important role. On Malanka, it is believed that the more variety on the table that day, the more generous next year will be.
Back in Londonderry Mall, the stage was busy with variety of Ukrainian performances such as Zorianka Ukrainian dance group and Razom, who posed for a photo, as well as, non-Ukrainian performances such as the Egyptian Dance with Marie, who also posed for a photo.

Arts and craft vendors spiced up the celebration. Damian Rudiak, one of the organizers, gave a big Happy Malanka from Londonderry Mall in Edmonton!
