Emma Rybalko, Igor Palepa, and other creative Holocaust survivors shared their creative works with Edmontonians at Bredin Centre for Learning. The Holocaust was a genocide during World War II in which Nazi Germany, aided by its collaborators, systematically murdered some six million European Jews. Some of the Jews who survived the Holocaust immigrated to Edmonton and still live in Edmonton today.
As an organization that support newcomers, on November 23, 2018, Bredin Centre for Learning teamed up with the Jewish Family Services to give some exposure to the arts and crafts of Holocaust survivors in Edmonton. Beautiful paintings, hand crafted clothes, and wonderful carvings were exhibited at Bredin Centre event space at the CN Tower for the Edmonton public to get a taste of the artistic side of the survivors.
“It’s a privilege to have their work here – wonderful,” Rhonda Eidelman, Seniors Outreach Worker, Jewish Family Services.
“An opportunity to showcase immigrant talent…nice opportunity to share talent from other countries…,” Debbie Green, Chief Executive Officer, Bredin Centre for Learning.
