Updates: Red Deer RCMP just confirmed that an officer was hit with a blunt object, suffered minor injury, recovering at home. 45 years old doctor, Walter Reynolds, and 54 years old suspect, Deng Mabiour is charged with first degree murder. They knew each other through the clinic. It was a targeted attack, RCMP said in media briefing on 12:20 PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

Updates from the community in Red Deer: Our contacts on the ground says Deng was calm, helpful to his friends in the moving, calm, kept to himself, spoke to himself when they met him on the street, and certainly have some mental issues. They say the police should do their own investigation and don’t want to go public.

“Put down the hammer or I will shoot,” but the killer threw the hammer at the RCMP Officer who was not hit.

The officer did not shoot but arrested the killer. A white doctor of South African descent, Dr. Reynolds, who was chopped up with a cutlass (machete) and hammered to death by a homeless man of South Sudanese descent who was not known in the community and was seen picking from garbage dumps and eating from the soup kitchen.

The motivation for the killing is not known but the killer is a mentally sick homeless man suspected of having come in contact with the doctor as a patient.

While our condolences goes to the family of Dr. Reynolds who was described as a fabulous doctor by patients, the question of the day is how did this homeless man get a cutlass, what was his motivation, how can we prevent future brutal killings?
