On January 18, 2019, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the Alberta Legislation, the indigenous peoples movement, a collective of Indigenous activists, organizers, tribal leaders, social entrepreneurs, artists, educators, innovators, youth leaders, and change-makers working to build the collective power of Indigenous Peoples, communities and Nations, united with Indigenous peoples across the world to stand together to bring awareness to the injustices affecting Indigenous men, women and children.

In the freezing cold, a passionate group came out to help bring awareness regarding the following indigenous crises and issues, clearly outlined by the organizers,”missing and murdered indigenous women, girls, boys and men, domestic violence, family violence, indigenous youth in care who are mistreated, suicide crisis among indigenous youth and adults, systematic racism indigenous people face daily, homelessness among our indigenous people, standing up for environmental rights and climate change, addictions among our indigenous people due to Intergenerational trauma, the (in)justice system that indigenous people face with the Canadian justice system, standing up for our Residential School and Sixties Scoop Survivors, Standing in solidarity with Unist’ ot’ en and much more”.
