She has been in fashion for all her life but now she has decided to use those talents to empower women in Uganda and other African countries. Lorna Mutegyeki and her team of volunteers are developing talents and skills of women and applying the skills to develop a source of livelihood for them.

Lorna do the designs in her St. Albert base, send the designs to her association of women groups in Africa who in turn spin the designs into beautiful clothing that are shipped back to her fashion store in St. Albert for sale. As a social enterprise that supports poor women in Africa through the sale of their clothes in Canada, she relies heavily on volunteers. She is still looking for more volunteers to support her women empowerment project especially in the field of marketing.

Each design is accompanied by a story of the woman who made the design, her age, and her location. What a neat concept! Her launch of her fashion store called Msichana took place on April 14, 2018, at her location in St. Albert, Alberta, Canada. For more information please go to www.msichana.com
