Mayor Sohi Launches Financial Support to Innovative Ideas…
While campaigning for Mayor of Edmonton, many Edmontonians asked him to do something to finance entrepreneurs with innovative ideas and he promised to do something about it.
On August 28, at Edmonton City Hall, Mayor Amarjeet Sohi delivered on his promise by launching a $5 million grant, called Edge Fund, to fund innovative ideas, with money that they don’t have to pay back.

According to the City of Edmonton website…
The first step in the application process is to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI).
Expression of Interest (EOI) intake period runs from August 28, 2023 to September 18, 2023.
Phase 1 of the Edmonton Edge Fund will offer grant funding through 2 streams:
The Start Stream funds projects that support businesses in their efforts to advance the development of their innovations and begin commercializing them.
The Scale & Grow Stream funds large-scale projects that support the scale-up and growth efforts of businesses while, in turn, producing significant economic outcomes.
To be eligible for funding, applicants must:
Be a registered business or non-profit organization that holds a mandate related to economic growth and development.
Must have a valid City business licence or have plans to obtain one by the time of project completion.
Phase 1 of the Edmonton Edge Fund supports businesses in their efforts to start, scale and grow in Edmonton.
