The official launch ceremony for Black History Month celebrations in the Francophone community was held today at Campus Saint-Jean – Salon Lacerte, located at 8406 Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury, Edmonton, AB T6C 4G9. Organized jointly by AJFAS (Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l’Alberta Society) and La FRAP, the event took place from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM.
The evening offered a meaningful opportunity to honor the achievements of Black Canadians across various fields and to reaffirm the commitment to diversity and inclusion within the community. Attendees gathered to celebrate, connect, and reflect, setting the tone for what was anticipated to be an impactful Black History Month.
The program featured several engaging segments:
Conference: A session that detailed the journey of early Black settlers, highlighted historical resources, and showcased concrete achievements.
Poetry: A moving performance by Hope.
Artistic Performance: An expression of creativity that resonated with the audience.
Exhibition: A display featuring 13 inspiring Black personalities.
Overall, the event was celebrated as a significant step towards recognizing and promoting the rich cultural heritage and contributions of Black Canadians in the Francophone community.
La cérémonie de lancement officiel des célébrations du Mois de l’Histoire des Noirs dans la communauté francophone a été organisée conjointement par l’AJFAS (Alliance Jeunesse-Famille de l’Alberta Society) et La FRAP. Cet événement s’est tenu aujourd’hui de 17h00 à 19h30 au Campus Saint-Jean – Salon Lacerte, situé au 8406, rue Marie-Anne Gaboury, à Edmonton (AB T6C 4G9).
Cette soirée inoubliable a offert une occasion précieuse d’honorer les réalisations des Canadiens noirs dans divers domaines, tout en réaffirmant l’engagement envers la diversité et l’inclusion. Les participants se sont réunis pour célébrer, établir des liens et réfléchir, posant ainsi les bases d’un Mois de l’Histoire des Noirs riche en impact.
