On February 2, 2019, at the University of Alberta Telus Centre, the talents of African youths were in display to herald the launch of  Pan African Collaboration for Excellence (PACE), as part of Black history Month celebration in Edmonton.

PACE is a university community partnership for research and knowledge translation. It has been operating for some time but did its official launch on February 2, 2019. It is coordinated by a group of university professors; Philomina Okeke-Ihejirika, Sophie Yohani, Michael Frishkopf, and Bukola Salami.

The event to launch PACE featured some beautiful photo exhibitions made by three youths, depicting the beauty of the African hair in multiple forms, in all infinite beauty and splendor. There was also food and drinks with an advise from the youths who made the painting to be proud of your hair and who you are.
