Human Rights Day is celebrated annually across the world on 10 December every year. The date was chosen to honour the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation, on 10 December 1948.
The City of Red Deer joined the celebration this year with an event on December 10, 2018. The event was lovely with seven agencies coming out to join the celebration, attracting some members of the community.
Red Deer Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Network said “The objective was to give agencies who work in the area of human rights, a chance to engage with the public, and to discuss the importance of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights”. Andrea Lacoursiere with the City of Red Deer, and member of the Network did the majority of the planning, as the Co-chairs of Red Deer Welcoming and Inclusive Communities Network.
