Premier Jason Kenney’s UCP Government has made deep ongoing cuts in jobs across Alberta as a result of their austerity policies.

This has provoked resistance from Labour Union Leaders. A Resist Kenney’s Cut Town Hall took place at MacEwan University in Edmonton on December 2, 2019, with Labour Unions threatening a general strike.

Four of the labour leaders spoke to Diversity Magazine at the end of the Town Hall.

1 – Gill McGowan, United Federation of Labour (AFL)

2 – Guy Smith, Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)

3 – Tom Hesse, United Food and Commercial Workers 401 (UFCW 401)

4 – Heather Smith, United Nurses of Alberta (UNA)
