On May 22, 2022, the Sikh Parade took place in Edmonton, from Gurdwara Millwoods rd. to Gurdwara Siri Guru Singh Sabha in Edmonton.

The parade marks the Sikh religion’s celebration of Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan, which involved the singing and chanting of holy hymns by a group repetitively on the streets of a city in the form of a procession, with heads covered.

Vaisakhi Nagar Kirtan is a neighbourhood procession with hymns and prayers, paying homage to the Sri Guru Granth Sahib, the Sikh holy scripture. The Nagar Kirtan literally means bringing the religion to the community.

The joy of Vaisakhi Mela was also celebrated by huge crowds in Calgary on May 14, from the Dashmesh Culture Centre to the Prairie Winds Park.
