After giving dozens of youths and kids the opportunity to showcase their talents, and celebrate Canadian mix of culture under the banner, Canada 150 Program, the Sinkunia Community Development Organization Canada 150 Program will now re-emerge as an after school program.

Sinkunia Organization partnered with GAZA to celebrate Canada 150 engaging youth and kids of African descent in Edmonton through; basketball, movie nights, presentations, cultural dance performances, and concluded with a Christmas Party for the kids on December 30, 2017, at the Parkdale Cromdale Community League Hall.

Rose Bangura who had a son and a daughter in attendance was happy with the program and shared her excitement with Diversity Magazine, “It’s good. It’s energizing bringing people together”. She added, “My kids were shy initially, but now have opened up. I like the field trips as there are no such educational programs in the south of Edmonton”.

Fatima Turay who is passionate working with youths since her college days in Toronto coordinated the program and look forward to seeing the kids again in the after school reincarnation.

The event concluded with the handing out of presents.
