The air was filled with the enticing aromas of Nepali cuisine, inviting visitors to savor the flavors of dishes like momos.
The second edition of the Nepali Mela, held on July 21 at Prairie Winds Park, in Calgary.
It was organized by the Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC), a vibrant celebration of Nepali and multicultural culture.
The event showcased the rich traditions of Nepal, while fostering a spirit of inclusivity and cultural exchange among the diverse communities in Calgary.
Padma Gurung, Program Coordinator of the Nepali Mela, reflected on the event’s significance, saying, “This is basically a multicultural exchange and also a multigenerational experience. We are sharing experiences and learning a lot from each other”.
Her words captured the essence of the mela, where attendees of all ages and backgrounds came together to celebrate and learn.
The festival featured a lively array of activities, including traditional Nepali music and dance performances, storytelling sessions, and booths displaying handmade crafts and artworks.

La deuxième édition du Nepali Mela s’est tenue le 21 juillet au Prairie Winds Park, à Calgary.
Organisé par la Nepalese Community Society of Calgary (NCSC), cet événement vibrant a célébré la culture népalaise et multiculturelle.
L’événement a mis en valeur les riches traditions du Népal tout en favorisant un esprit d’inclusivité et d’échange culturel parmi les diverses communautés de Calgary.
