They always wanted to help young girls not having the privilege to choose between early marriage or early entry into the workforce and their studies.
Moriah Otu and Neriah Otu, just 19, and 21 years old wrote a book, “Purple Tie: There Is Royalty Within,” to empower young girls before taking it to the next level to found the Purple Tie Foundation.
The foundation started four years ago to empower young girls in Africa and in Canada to learn to embrace rejection and acceptance, and be confident in themselves.
Supported by a team of volunteers, the foundation has been organizing essay competitions in education institutions in Africa and in Canada.
On May 18, spiced up with rich cultural dance performances, they organized an event at the Star Conference Centre, to generate awareness on their work in Africa, and in Canada.
The young girls have also used the book as a vehicle to help convey their empowerment message far and wide, as well as, use the proceeds from the book sale to fund the humanitarian work of their foundation.

Le rêve des sœurs Otu devient réalité…
Elles ont toujours voulu aider les jeunes filles n’ayant pas le privilège de choisir entre le mariage précoce, l’entrée précoce dans la vie active ou leurs études.
Moriah Otu et Neriah Otu, âgées respectivement de 19 et 21 ans, ont écrit un livre, « Purple Tie: There Is Royalty Within », pour donner du pouvoir aux jeunes filles avant de passer à l’étape suivante en fondant la Purple Tie Foundation.
La fondation, créée il y a quatre ans, vise à encourager les jeunes filles en Afrique et au Canada à apprendre à accepter le rejet et l’acceptation, et à avoir confiance en elles-mêmes.
Soutenue par une équipe de bénévoles, la fondation organise des concours de rédaction dans des établissements d’enseignement en Afrique et au Canada.
Le 18 mai, agrémenté de riches performances de danse culturelle, elles ont organisé un événement au Star Conference Centre pour sensibiliser le public à leur travail en Afrique et au Canada.
Les jeunes filles ont également utilisé le livre comme un moyen de transmettre leur message d’autonomisation et d’utiliser les recettes des ventes du livre pour financer le travail humanitaire de leur fondation.
