The father is the lion of the family who protects and supports everyone in the family.
Unfortunately, some fathers face various challenges in keeping their lion status in newcomer families, such as; adaptation to life in a new country, lack of their usual financial power due to lack of employment, ignorance of human rights and the laws in a new country, and many more.
On July 6, the Afrika Diaspora History Library hosted an event at the Edmonton Archives on how to enhance the father, son, and daughter relationship.
In attendance were students from the University of Alberta and MacEwan University, as well as, community members, elders, and academics.

Malheureusement, certains pères rencontrent divers défis pour maintenir leur statut de lion dans les familles de nouveaux arrivants, tels que : l’adaptation à la vie dans un nouveau pays, le manque de pouvoir financier habituel en raison du manque d’emploi, l’ignorance des droits de l’homme et des lois dans un nouveau pays, et bien plus encore.
Le 6 juillet, la bibliothèque de l’histoire de la diaspora africaine a organisé un événement aux archives d’Edmonton sur la manière d’améliorer la relation entre père, fils et fille.
Des étudiants de l’Université de l’Alberta et de l’Université MacEwan, ainsi que des membres de la communauté, des aînés et des universitaires étaient présents.
