“Women will not be equal outside the home until men are equal inside the home”. These are some words of wisdom from Dr. Costeen at the Women’s Advocacy Voice of Edmonton (WAVE) celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019, at Edmonton City Hall.

This exciting, informative and interesting event to help celebrate girls and women as part of the International Women’s Day was in line with the theme for this year, “Balance for the Better”. The event started with greetings from Edmonton’s City Council, followed by a keynote from Dr. Wanda Costen, Dean of the School of Business at MacEwan University, a presentation of the Women’s Initiative Leadership Award, and artistic performances and displays showcasing many women’s initiatives and resources across Edmonton.

“Women spend 50% more time on domestic chores,” Dr. Costeen shared. She added, “women spend 2x more time on childcare”. In an empowering talk, drawing from her own journey, Dr. Costeen encouraged women to break barriers and trail blaze to achieve their dreams.
